On October 6th, 2017 professionals who work to assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining meaningful, integrated employment in Bedford, Blair, Centre, Fulton, and Huntingdon counties met at the Altoona Grand Hotel to discuss opportunities for interagency collaboration.
Participants in Altoona were very focused on the collection and dissemination of educational information for individuals with disabilities and their families. They felt as though information could be stored in a more accessible location and families could be more effectively engaged in ongoing education.
After identifying this barrier, participants began to brainstorm creative ways to communicate with individuals and their families. One of the most unique ideas was the creation of a YouTube channel, where parents could “tune in” to obtain a better understanding of the programs, services, and overall concepts of the system.
Participants across the state have been identifying and discussing methods for overcoming barriers to employment for individuals with disabilities at Experience the Employment Connection. Want to join? Register today for one of our final trainings at: http://pa-eec.org/register/
