On Wednesday, November 9th, 81 employees who work to provide meaningful employment for people with disabilities in the counties of Bedford, Blair, Centre, Fulton and Huntingdon filed into the Altoona Grand Hotel to discuss the potential of future collaboration.
That afternoon, the participants were asked to perform a collaborative exercise, to practice their ability to work together and highlight the effectiveness of their combined resources. The participants are introduced to Chloe and Joe, two consumers who have identified their unique career goals, talents, skills, and passions.
With representatives from a number of different agencies, the participants are encouraged to pursue inter-agency collaboration and devise a collective plan to provide meaningful employment for their two consumers. The creativity and innovation that spawns from these brainstorming sessions is outstanding.
Each agency has access to a unique range of resources that aids in their ability to help people with disabilities. By combining these resources, the participants at the Experience discover a new quality of education and opportunity they can offer their consumers.
Future collaboration among participants at the Experience the Employment Connection will be immeasurably beneficial for consumers such as Chloe and Joe across the state of Pennsylvania.
